“In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35)
The Bible says a great deal about social welfare. Moses codified a number of laws as to how the Israelites were to care for the poor in their theocracy. As being true believers, it is our responsibility to follow the Biblical concept of social welfare in order to not only build better societies but to fulfill the will of God as well.
“Women are the real architects of society.” (Harriet Beecher Stowe)
“The fastest way to change society is to mobilize the women of the world.” (Charles Malik)
Woman was created as a companion for man. She has been the torchbearer for centuries. She is responsible for the miracle of birth. In most cases she is also a provider of the family and the epitome and embodiment of morality. Woman is also responsible for the image of the society. It is the woman who is considered the guardian of the respect and honor of a family .Moreover God has already emancipated woman for no responsibility can be greater than that of continuing the cycle of life of birth. She is a mother, a sister, a daughter, a wife. These are multiple role that woman elegantly fits. Women are playing vital role in the development of different societies. Societies where women are actively participating in social and economic growth are far better than societies where females are still treated as superfluous. Enhancing women’s participation in development is essential not only for achieving social justice but also for reducing poverty. Worldwide experience shows clearly that supporting a stronger role for women contributes to social and economic growth.
It is very important for developing countries like Pakistan that nearly half of the population i.e. the women, should play their role in social and economic development. Skilled females can be a key to social and economic development. Skilled woman can be beneficial in number of ways in societies like Pakistan. They can not only be useful for their families but can also play a useful role in building a better society.
Keeping in view the importance of skilled females for the society and for economic development of poor families of Pakistan, Pastor Asher Aziz had a vision to start a chain of sewing schools in villages, brick factories and backward areas of Punjab, Pakistan so that young girls and women of those areas become skilled and play their part actively in social and economic growth.
Vision of Pastor Asher Aziz became reality when first sewing center was started in June, 2009 at Village Shamirpur, District Sialkot. God put burden on the heart of Pastor Stanley Fleming of Gate Breakers Ministries USA and he became a source for GBM Sewing Centers in Pakistan. By the grace of God and with a precious support of Pastor Stanley Fleming, we have number of GBM Sewing Schools are working successfully in different areas of Punjab, Pakistan. These sewing schools are providing an ideal environment to young girls and women of villages and backward areas. GBM Sewing Centers are effectively working for the uplift of young girls and women of depressed class in Punjab, Pakistan. Many females of different villages and backward areas have been benefited from GBM Sewing Centers. They have become skilled seamstresses and are now supporting their families financially. They have also become efficient members of the society. Most importantly, GBM Sewing School Pakistan are operative without any religious discrimination. Many Non Christian girls and women are also getting training in these Schools.
Thanks God that hundreds of young girls and women have completed their training and now they are contributing successfully in economic and social growth of their families.
